MIRPUR: Due to persistent rain, play in the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan was called off early on day two in Mirpur.

On day two of the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, only 6.2 overs of play were possible.

The groundsmen were hard at work, bringing the covers on and off multiple times throughout the first session, with rain playing hide and seek.

The game finally began at 12:50 p.m. local time, more than three hours after it was scheduled to begin. Babar Azam got the day started with a boundary off the first ball of the day.

Azhar Ali was taken with Ebadot Hossain's right-arm pace, smashing three boundaries, including two consecutive fours, to bring up his half-century, his 34th in Tests.

Soon after, it began to rain again, and the rain became heavier as time passed. The umpires then decided to call the day's play off with Pakistan batting at 188/2 in the first innings.

The action on day three is scheduled to begin at 09:30 AM local time, weather permitting.
