Manu Bhaker defends air pistol title
Has won three of the last four national titles in her event
PUNE: Tokyo Olympian Manu Bhaker successfully defended her women's 10m air pistol title on Saturday at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi during the national shooting championships 2021.
Manu Bhaker, the junior world champion in the 10m air pistol, has now won three of the last four national championships in her event.
In the final, the 19-year-old Haryana shooter shot a 241.6, defeating Tamil Nadu's Shri Nivetha (239.9). Esha Singh, who beat Manu Bhaker to the national title two years ago, finished third with 215.4 points to take bronze.
Esha Singh led the field in qualifying with 582 points, while Manu Bhaker (576 points) finished fifth. The top eight qualifiers advanced to the finals.
Shreyashi Singh of Bihar won the women's trap event on Thursday at the New Moti Bagh Gun Club Ranges in Patiala, Punjab.
Shreyashi Singh, the reigning Commonwealth Games double trap champion, won the finals with a score of 34, defeating Pragati Dubey (31) of Madhya Pradesh and Shagun Chowdhary of ONGC (27). Shreyashi won her fifth national title overall and her second in women's trap.
In the finals of the 10m air rifle mixed team event in Bhopal, Rajshree Anilkumar Sancheti and Paarth Makhija defeated Gujarat's Elavenil Valarivan and Keval 17-11. Sancheti had previously won the individual women's 10m air rifle title.
Swapnil Suresh Kusale won gold in the men's 50m rifle prone event, finishing ahead of Tokyo Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Madhya Pradesh shooter Goldi Gurjar.
The 64th edition of the shooting nationals, which concludes on December 6, is being held in Patiala, Delhi, and Bhopal at the same time.
