LONDON: According to Dutch media, Formula One world champion Max Verstappen has agreed to a lucrative long-term contract deal with Red Bull.
Verstappen's current contract with Red Bull runs out in 2023.
According to the Dutch tabloid De Telegraaf, the 24-year-old is anticipated to extend his contract by four or five years.
The new contract is reported to be worth 40-50 million euros ($44.31-55.39 million) per year, making it one of the most profitable in F1.
Verstappen had a nail-biting duel with Mercedes opponent Lewis Hamilton before clinching the title in controversial circumstances in December at the Abu Dhabi finale.
The 2019 Formula One season will begin on March 20 in Bahrain.
