Nice-Marseille match abandoned
Bottles thrown, pitch invasions & mass brawl at Nice
NICE: Marseille's Matteo Guendouzi and Luan Peres were left with marks on their necks after their match in Nice devolved into chaos.
After Dimitri Payet reacted to having a bottle thrown at his back from the crowd, fans stormed the pitch in an attempt to fight players.
An enraged Payet, who had been knocked down by the missile, threw the bottle back into the crowd, while teammates Guendouzi and Alvaro Gonzalez yelled back at the Nice fans.
Some fans reacted by running onto the pitch to attack them.
Despite the best efforts of the stewards, many of those supporters made it onto the field, forcing the referee to suspend the game in the second half.
Both sides' staff members got involved, with one even shown shoving one of the pitch invaders to the turf.
