Pune: St. Vincent’s H.S completed a clean sweep winning all three titles to assert themselves as champions on the concluding day of the Loyola Football Cup powered by Tata Autocomp at the Loyola H.S ground, Pashan here on Friday.
The tournament, organised by the Ex Loyola Students Network (ELAN) saw the hosts go down in Under-12 and 14 sections via the tie-breaker, while the Under-16s went down in regular time.
The Under-12 section, St. Vincent’s H.S and Loyola H.S ended full time 1-1, before the former pushed home a 3-1 result in the tie-breaker. St. Vincent's Samyek Bhandari (8th) scored first, and two minutes later Loyola H.S had Adiraj Singh (10th) level terms.
In the tie-breaker, Jonah Ambat, James Rebello, Pranav Motwani scored for St. Vincent’s H.S, while Loyola H.S could only manage one through Anurag Parasnis. For St. Vincent’s H.S Aaryan Lavale missed, while for Loyola H.S Yatarath Gaikwad, Adiraj Singh and Zion Harry were unsuccessful.
Later in the Under-14 section both St. Vincent’s and Loyola H.S ended up goalless at regulation time, before winning 3-2 in penalties.
Down to the penalty shoot-out and Ethan Lobo, Deo Kamble, Shaunak Dhapte helped St. Vincent’s H.S claim the title, while Loyola H.S had Pranav Kulkarni, Darsh Kasat reduce the margin.
Shaurya Badhade missed for St Vincent’s H.S, while Ayush Chavan, Arhan Shaikh and Parth Shinde failed with their attempts for Loyola H.S.
The Under-16 title went St. Vincent’s way with Aaron D’Souza leading the way with a brace of goals to down the hosts 4-0. Shaun Pereira (17th) opened, then Aaron D’Souza (18th, 21st) and Jaden Arland (34th) rounded off the tally.
The prizes were given away by Arvind Goel, MD Tata Autocorp along with Rev. Father Anish, Principal Loyola H.S, Manoj Walvekar, President, ELAN and Father Francis, Manager Loyola H.S.
