NKBA’s Varun Kapur clinches Men’s Singles Title in Uganda

Continuing with his fine form, Varun Kapur from Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy (NKBA) has won his first Senior International Men’s Singles Title at the 2021 Uganda International Series Tournament which concluded at Kampala in Uganda on Sunday.

In the finals, Varun defeated seventh-seeded fellow compatriot S.Sankar Muthusamy Subramanium, with the score reading 21-18, 16-21, 21-17.

Earlier in the semifinals, Varun defeated Kenya's John Wanyoike 21-7, 21-12 to come one step closer to the title. The quarterfinals witnessed Varun getting the better of fellow Indian Anirudh Janardhanan  21-9,21-11.

Earlier in the second round, Varun beat Uganda's Muzafar Lubega  21-6, 21-10. The first round encounter saw Varun battle it out against Uganda's Amos Muyanja 21-9, 21-10.
