Dominate IWL-Q match against Lawless United

PUNE: Debutants Aspire F.C made a dominant start registering a 4-0 win over Lawless United, Palghar in the WIFA Indian Women's League (IWL) Qualifiers at the Cooperage ground.

Aspire F.C took their time to settle before taking control and created innumerable chances.

Against the run of play striker Gita Das was the first to come close for Aspire F.C. From right wing, Gita set off on a solo only to have keeper Diya Patel save her attempt.

Aspire FC thereafter had a host of good chances that could have moved the scoreboard.

Skipper Muriel Adam, finding herself in space beyond the defense fell short in finishing.

For Aspire F.C left back Sapna Rajpure was impressive in attack creating a number of chances as she continuously made inroads into the rivals half.

Nearing the halfway mark, Aspire F.C broke the deadlock through Archana Bhaldhare (36th) after Puja Karmakar did well to beat her marker, dribble past a couple of defenders and put Archana clear who did equally well with a fine low shot to make it 1-0.

At half time Aspire F.C led 1-0.

Early in the second half, Aspire began with a bang with two quick goals. Puja, the provider before, became goalscorer in the 51st minute. Powering forward and beating the offside trap, Puja did well to finish from a one-on-one situation with a deft finish to make it 2-0.

Six minutes later, substitute Vaishnavi Barate collected a pass from the left wing, and tapped over the defender before blasting it past the 'keeper to make it 3-0.

Having played a dominating half, Gita Das (80th) found the back of the net to complete the rout.
