NAVI MUMBAI: Vietnam and Myanmar drew 2-2 in their last AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022 Group C match at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Vietnam came from behind twice to earn a point and finish third, but their knockout round hopes will have to wait until the Group B matches end later on Thursday.

Myanmar started the more active of the two teams and had the first attempt on goal in the second minute when Tun Win Theingi's threaded ball found Thaw Thaw, whose shot was saved by Vietnam goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh.

A minute later, Vietnam came close to scoring when Nguyen Thi My Anh tried to catch Myanmar goalkeeper Nwe May Zin off her line, but her long-range effort was denied by the crossbar.

That set the tone for a well-balanced encounter, with Nwe denying Vietnam's Huynh Nhu in the 13th minute, while Tun's header from inside the box was cleared two minutes later.

However, it was Vietnam who gave up the opening goal when Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha took down an attacking Noe Khin Myat inside the box, with Tun scoring the penalty with ease.

Vietnam came back, and after numerous wasted chances, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung levelled the score on the stroke of half-time, beating Nwe from a corner set-piece.

After the restart, Mai Duc Chung's charges were wasteful in front of goal, with Huynh Nhu and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung both wasting scoring chances.

Myanmar, however, took the lead once again in the 49th minute when Tun set up Tun Khin Marlar, who found space before slamming her shot into the back of the net.

Myanmar's Saw Thaw Thaw gave Vietnam a lifeline in the 62nd minute when she took down Nguyen Anh Thi My inside the six-yard box.

Huynh Nhu made no mistake from the penalty spot, sending Nwe the other way to tie the game for the second time as both teams had to settle for a point each.
